WASHINGTON (AP) Mueller has signed a lease on a $200 million statue of the goddess of justice in Washington, D.C. The monument, the first to be dedicated to the goddess in the nation’s capital, was built in 1892 by former mayor George Washington.
The statue was unveiled to the public Thursday.
The statues are the work of sculptor Jules Feil and architect James McBride.
The building that houses the statue is the headquarters for the National Museum of American History.
The first president to visit the Capitol, Abraham Lincoln, also paid a visit there in 1865.
The new statue was installed in the shadow of the dome of the Capitol building in honor of Abraham Lincoln.
It is the first of its kind in the U.S. and the second of its type in the world, according to the Washington Monument Association.
The dedication ceremony took place on Thursday.
